• Prevalence: Out of 448 documented cases of non-accidental injury reported by a random sample of veterinary practitioners, 6% (28 cases) were identified as sexual in nature.
• Species Breakdown: Of those specific sexual abuse cases, 21 occurred in dogs (75%), 5 occurred in cats (approx. 17.8%), and 2 involved unspecified species (7.1%).
